Former Coinbase CTO, Balaji Srinivasan, has stated that Bitcoin will eventually surpass gold as an asset. He argues that Bitcoin has already become a global reserve asset, as it can be bought and sold easily and instantly across borders without the need for intermediaries. The major arguments in favor of Bitcoin over gold are its logistical ease and liquidity, as selling large amounts of gold requires physically transporting it to exchanges, while Bitcoin can be sold with just a few clicks. Srinivasan also points out that large crypto exchanges can handle massive trading volumes, unlike gold exchanges where trading large amounts would be impossible. He concludes that Bitcoin's liquidity is at least 1,000 times greater than that of gold, leading to his belief that Bitcoin will eventually surpass gold in value.
