Kraken, a cryptocurrency exchange, plans to launch a new satellite blockchain called Ink on Optimism's Superchain. The Superchain is a network that aims to make the Ethereum ecosystem more cohesive by offering a standardized tech stack for developers to customize their blockchains. L2s, such as the Superchain, process transactions offchain to reduce fees and increase speed. Kraken's entry to the Superchain could benefit the other networks on the platform, which have generated $180 million in ETH since July 2021. Coinbase's layer-2 currently dominates the Superchain, but Uniswap Labs is set to launch its own network, Unichain, next month. This highlights the trend towards specialized blockchains for different companies, apps, games, and communities.
