UK Political Parties Ignoring Crypto Is ‘Disservice’ to Constituents, Says Ex-Tory MP

Former Tory MP and Crypto Parliamentary Group Chair, Dr. Lisa Cameron, criticized every major political party in the UK for ignoring crypto in the recent election campaign. She believes that parties that fail to address crypto in the next election will be doing a disservice to voters. Cameron noted that the crypto community in the UK has more than doubled in size in the past three years, from 2 million to over 6 million crypto holders, and she expects this trend to continue. She attributes the government's lack of engagement with crypto to a lack of education and the dominance of older generations in power. Cameron emphasized the generational divide in understanding crypto, with young people being more digitally native and aware of its importance compared to older politicians. She called for industry leaders to use "common language" to explain the benefits of cryptocurrencies to politicians and to focus on use cases and job opportunities in the technological world. Despite the UK's lag in crypto investment and regulation, Cameron believes that Brexit offers an opportunity for the country to catch up and improve on the European Union's crypto legislation. Cameron hopes that by the next election, every party will propose ideas for crypto policy.
