Hut 8, a Bitcoin miner, is expanding its partnership with Bitmain and will launch a new ASIC miner with direct liquid-to-chip cooling in Q2 2025. The U3S21EXPH miner is capable of reaching up to 860 TH/s and represents a more thoughtful approach to capturing the economics of next-generation machines. Hut 8 has the option to purchase the hosted miners in three tranches, which could increase its self-mining hashrate from 5.6 EH/s to 20.6 EH/s. The agreement aims to minimize upfront capital expenditures and provide flexibility for future purchases. This expansion follows Hut 8's $150 million investment in June to accelerate its AI infrastructure development.
