The Lancashire man, James Parker, has been arrested for his involvement in a Bitcoin fraud ring that stole £28 million from an Australian cryptocurrency website. Parker discovered a loophole in 2017 that allowed him to steal money from the website and used the stolen funds to support a luxurious lifestyle. Parker and his accomplices siphoned £20 million in credits from the website over three months. The funds were laundered by Parker's financial advisor, Stephen Boys. During the investigation, the police recovered 445 BTC and seized luxury assets and over £1 million in bank accounts. Parker died in 2021, but his co-conspirators were sentenced in January 2023. The victim was fully compensated, and the seized funds will be split between the courts, Lancashire police, and the Home Office.
