El Salvador has been successful in implementing a comprehensive Bitcoin education program, according to Stacy Herbert, director of El Salvador’s Bitcoin Office. The program aims to produce highly-educated Bitcoin engineers and developers, creating a skilled workforce for companies like Tether and Bitfinex that have relocated to the country. The program starts in high schools, teaching students about Bitcoin, Lightning Network nodes, and ASICs. It also includes an intense boot camp for select applicants, with participants earning university credits. The program has already resulted in high employment rates for graduates. Additionally, close to 80,000 civil servants have undergone Bitcoin certification courses. El Salvador's government recently agreed to make Bitcoin payments acceptance voluntary in the private sector following a deal with the International Monetary Fund, but Herbert believes this changes nothing and the country remains committed to its Bitcoin initiatives. El Salvador's success has put it ahead of other countries in the race to adopt cryptocurrencies, and Herbert believes other nations will have to work hard to keep up with Salvadoran initiatives.
