WisdomTree has filed a registration statement with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for a spot XRP exchange-traded fund (ETF). Bank of New York Mellon will act as the administrator for the proposed trust. This move by WisdomTree follows the trend of asset managers seeking to launch XRP-based investment products. Bitwise and Canary Capital have also filed for XRP ETFs earlier this year. The filing comes as WisdomTree established a trust entity in Delaware for the proposed fund. The SEC's stance on XRP remains uncertain due to ongoing legal disputes between Ripple Labs and the regulator. However, industry observers believe that the imminent resignation of SEC Chair Gary Gensler could lead to a reevaluation of the agency's approach to litigation, potentially creating a more favorable environment for XRP ETFs under future leadership.
