Microsoft may be open to Ethereum ETF with staking, VanEck head of crypto research speculates

Microsoft has rejected a proposal to adopt Bitcoin as a treasury asset. However, the company may be open to exploring other cryptocurrency investment opportunities. VanEck's head of digital assets research, Matthew Sigel, believes Microsoft might consider investing in an Ethereum ETF if it includes a staking feature. Microsoft's Chief Financial Officer, Amy Hood, mentioned that the company has been accepting crypto as payment since 2014 and has considered it as an asset class. Sigel speculates that Microsoft is interested in Ethereum staking to earn rewards. US-based Ethereum ETFs currently do not include staking features due to regulatory concerns, but discussions may be revisited with the incoming Trump administration and new SEC leadership. Incorporating staking into Ethereum ETFs could reduce management fees, making them more appealing to investors. Analysts believe that allowing staking within Ethereum ETFs could help them compete with Bitcoin ETFs.
