2024 has doubled Bitcoin's 15-year capitalization – What’s next for 2025?

In 2024, Bitcoin's market capitalization reached $2 trillion, doubling its value from the previous year. The increase was driven by institutional investors and a renewed interest from retail investors as BTC surpassed the psychological price resistance of $100,000. Onchain analyst Ki Young Ju suggests that the realized cap, which tracks actual capital inflows through Bitcoin transactions, is a better metric than market cap. Bitcoin's realized cap increased by $80 billion each month in 2024, with $339 billion worth of Bitcoin purchased throughout the year. If this trend continues, analysts predict even more significant price appreciation and adoption for Bitcoin in 2025. However, a large number of participants in profit could lead to selling pressure and a potential capital outflow that could negatively impact the BTC price. Despite this, Wall Street analysts predict Bitcoin could reach prices of $200,000 to $250,000 by the end of 2025.
