The article discusses the challenges posed by the proliferation of layer-2 (L2) solutions in the blockchain ecosystem. While L2 solutions offer benefits such as scalability and speed, the fragmentation of the blockchain ecosystem with multiple chains, each with its own rules, tokens, and transaction fees, presents significant challenges for users and developers. The complexity of managing multiple blockchain layers hampers usability and stifles innovation. To address these challenges, the article proposes the concept of chain abstraction, which creates a unified layer that communicates with multiple blockchains and simplifies user interactions. Additionally, omnichain infrastructure is introduced as a practical application of chain abstraction, enabling seamless interactions across various blockchains and making blockchain interactions more intuitive and efficient. The article concludes by highlighting the importance of omnichain infrastructure in achieving mass adoption of blockchain technology.
