Kraken, a major U.S. crypto exchange, has announced plans to build a layer-2 network called Ink on Optimism's OP Stack blockchain framework. As part of the deal, Kraken received a grant of 25 million OP tokens, worth roughly $42.5 million. This makes Kraken part of the "Superchain" ecosystem, which includes layer-2 networks from Coinbase, Sony, and Uniswap. The Optimism Foundation confirmed the grant but did not provide further details. Layer-2 networks have been on the rise in the Ethereum ecosystem, with Coinbase, Uniswap, Sony, and others launching their own solutions. The grant received by Kraken is similar to what other Superchain participants have received.
