DeFi Llama, a data service for decentralized finance (DeFi), has warned users against using top links from Google due to malicious activity. It specifically warned against using Google to search for Llama Swap, as a sponsored advertising site appeared as the top result for over two hours. The site, which is not the native DEX on DeFi Llama, contains malicious links. DeFi Llama Swap contracts have not been compromised, and there are no additional risks to users. The spoofed site is identical to the original, except for the URL. Similar search results pose a risk for other DEX and services. Phishing scams targeting crypto wallets have been on the rise, with scams and project attacks accelerating in October, resulting in an estimated $20 million in losses. Phishing attacks often occur during NFT and meme token booms and exploit lowered attention to hide behind legitimate services or spoofed links. Most phishing scam victims are Ethereum users, and around 90% of wallet attacks are phishing-related.
