A wallet belonging to the defunct crypto exchange Mt. Gox has transferred 2,500 Bitcoin, worth $222 million, to an unknown address. This comes as Bitcoin has surged to $89,000. Mt. Gox still holds 44,378 BTC, valued at $3 billion, in its wallets. The exchange has yet to fully resolve compensation claims from its former users, and the deadline for complete payouts has been extended to October 2025. Some creditors have received fiat currency payments, but many are still waiting for full compensation in Bitcoin or Bitcoin Cash. There are concerns that when full compensation is distributed, creditors selling their Bitcoin holdings may impact market prices. Bitcoin is currently trading at around $88,500, up 9% in the last 24 hours.
