The token of the Optimism Blockchain, OP went up after an engineer from Andreessen Horowitz (A16z) tweeted a mysterious orange circle with the caption "coming soon." Traders were quick to assume that A16z is planning to have their own layer 2 blockchain, given that Coinbase had teasers with blue circles previous to the launch of their class 2 network, Base.

When further pressed on the orange circle, A16z's Chief Technology Officer Eddy Lazzarin cleared up the confusions by saying it had no relation to a Layer 2 blockchain. Regardless, many traders convinced themselves of this possibility and drove the OP Token to up 3% as a result.

The speculation of the layer 2 blockchain came mostly as a response to the significant investment that A16z and Paradigm gave Optimism back in March 2022, leading the Ethereum scaling solution to reach a $1.65 billion evaluation. As of now, the company has not released any further statements about the orange circle.
