Cryptocurrency mining, particularly Bitcoin mining, has recently been in the spotlight with debates streaming between mainstream sources and public figures, particularly United States Senator Elizabeth Warren. In her statement, Warren accused the Bitcoin mining industry for rising energy prices in American households, citing a New York Times report as the foundation of her accusation.

However, many members from the Crypto Twitter community were ready to clarify the false accusations, explaining the fundamental truth about Bitcoin mining. For example, the Bitcoin podcaster Stephan Livera stated that the NYT report was filled with unverifiable “disinformation”, while chairman and founder of Microstrategy, Michael Saylor, argued that Bitcoin mining does not create pollution, but instead contributes in decreasing the energy bill.

Besides the vast universe of Crypto Twitter, the attempt to change mainstream opinion on cryptocurrency also included Tesla CEO Elon Musk, with his attempt to eradicate any problem of misinformation using his newly-owned social media platform.in fact, the New York Times was among the first news outlets to be affected by Musk's initiative, leading to the removal of their verified blue mark from the main Twitter account.

Also pushed by this wave of enforcement against misinformation, Musk recently revealed the development of "TruthGPT", a ChatGPT rival that will be used to explore and understand the universe. Musk behind this project further clarified his objective via Fox Interview; "ChatGPT is trained by left-wing experts and it is programmed to lie".

It is clear that cryptocurrency is entering a new wave of unparalleled scrutiny among governmental and public opinion figures, as US enforcement agencies are stepping up the duty of fighting against crypt-related crimes. Many remain hopeful that the increase in public scrutiny and mainstream enforcement will lead to improved safety and more informed decisions with regards to the crypto-verse.
