Friday’s incident with Ethereum’s blockchain causing a disruption in the network and leading to blocks not being finalized is what raised security concerns for users. The Ethereum Foundation reported the potential risk of pending transactions being re-ordered or even dropped during this time, however the network resumed the finalization of blocks the following day. This incident marked the second technical problem within 24 hours, as it had happened the day before. Terence Chain of Prysm Ethereum Client tweeted their appreciation for blockchain liveness, as this was what avoided the UX being far worse, but also noted that those waiting for deposits to complete were among those affected when the finality gap occurred. The choice of a LMD-GHOST fork is especially emphasized as it is key to maintain the steady and secure performance of the network.
