Shiba Inu lead developer Shytoshi Kusama surprised the SHIB community on April Fools' Day by updating a jocular tweet, "pressing deeply on the mainnet. jk," referencing Shibarium - a layer-2 solution for the meme-based cryptocurrency. His post caused a stir in the SHIB community, as many took to Twitter to express their thoughts and emotions. Intial responses ranged from amusement to disappointment, with some users attempting to understand the implications of the joke in regard to SHIB’s price.

The token's performance over the following 24 hours appeared to have shown some improvement, causing speculations that the price had been influenced by the jest. Shortly thereafter, other members of the community began pointing out the product's lackluster performance, insinuating the token had become more of an object of ridicule in recent times.

In response to the varying reactions, Kusama added a follow-up tweet to express that the intention was light-hearted and humorous, rather than to be taken seriously. In his tweet, he mentioned "JKJK" (short for "just kidding, just kidding") to make sure that everyone had understood the context.

Kusama's April Fools' attempt successfully sparked the SHIB community's emotions and he achieved the desired humorous outcome. One thing is certain: SHIB investors, like many other investors in the cryptocurrency industry, have learned to expect the unexpected.
