Taiwanese man arrested for illicit USDT use, first case under new AML laws

Taiwanese authorities have arrested a man for operating as an unregistered virtual currency dealer in violation of new anti-money laundering regulations. The man had been using Facebook groups to facilitate cryptocurrency trades and had completed hundreds of transactions in a month, profiting $24,000. This is the first case of its kind since the new Virtual Asset Service Provider registration system came into effect. In a separate raid, authorities targeted an unregistered coin dealer studio that had generated a profit of $600,000. The Financial Supervisory Commission has stressed that only 26 registered entities are authorized to provide virtual asset services and is urging the public to only transact with approved providers.
