Family of Dead OpenAI Whistleblower Raises $140K in Crypto to Fuel Investigation

The mother of former OpenAI employee and whistleblower, Suchir Balaji, has raised over $140,000 worth of cryptocurrency to fund an independent investigation into her son's death. Balaji was found dead in his San Francisco apartment in November, with authorities ruling it as suicide. However, his mother disputes this conclusion, claiming there are inconsistencies and signs of struggle. The family has hired a private investigator who disagreed with the police's cause of death, leading them to believe it was a murder. Independent journalist George Webb also released a video suggesting evidence against suicide. The family has signed a retainer with an attorney and set up a Solana wallet to raise funds for legal fees. The wallet currently holds over $140,000 in cryptocurrency, with the support of tokens inspired by Suchir. The team behind the largest Suchir-inspired token is working with the family to amplify their message.
