SEC commissioners say agency may move away from enforcement actions

The SEC will operate with a smaller team of commissioners while waiting for the Senate to approve President-elect Donald Trump's nominees. After SEC Chair Gary Gensler leaves, there is expected to be a significant shift in how the agency approaches the crypto industry. Commissioners Hester Peirce and Mark Uyeda, both Republicans, will remain with the agency. Peirce stated that the agency has a big toolkit and the mix of cases can change with new commission and composition changes. Uyeda emphasized the importance of public comment periods and transparency in agency decision-making. The overturning of the SAB 121 policy by Congress was ultimately vetoed by President Biden. Peirce acknowledges the need for hard work from both the agency and the crypto industry to improve the relationship.
