The CoinGecko 2024 annual crypto industry report highlighted major events and metrics in the crypto markets for the year. It noted the beginning of the fourth crypto bull cycle in March 2024, as well as the approval of U.S.-based Bitcoin and Ether spot ETFs by the SEC. The report also mentioned the BTC halving in April and policy changes, including rate cuts by the Federal Reserve. The total crypto market capitalization doubled in 2024 to reach $3.9 trillion, with BTC dominance growing to 54% by the end of the year. Bitcoin outperformed traditional finance assets, and Ethereum Layer 2s and Solana saw significant growth in Q4. Solana also outperformed Ethereum in DEX transactions.
