Donald Trump, the incoming President of the United States, has promised a revamp of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), particularly targeting Gary Gensler, the current SEC chief. Gensler's aggressive policies against crypto have earned him plenty of detractors, and there is increasing demand for his resignation. Dan Gallagher, Chief Legal Officer at Robinhood and former SEC commissioner, is considered the top contender for the position. Gallagher is known for his pro-innovation policies and support for tighter regulation of cryptocurrencies. Other potential replacements for Gensler include Hester Pierce, a current SEC commissioner, Mark Uyeda, a recent SEC commissioner, and Paul Atkins and Robert Stebbins, both former SEC commissioners. The selection process is ongoing, but Gallagher's crypto-friendly stance gives him an advantage.
