Input Output Hong Kong (IOHK), the company behind Cardano, has announced a gamified tournament called the Hydra Doom deathmatch to test the Hydra scaling solution. The tournament will be conducted in multiple stages, with the first stage involving players competing against bots and the subsequent round featuring human participants competing against each other. IOHK has introduced incentives, including a $100,000 USDM prize pool, to encourage participation. Earlier testing phases have shown significant milestones, including three million transactions in one hour with a global throughput of 1,663 transactions per second (TPS) and over 1,000 TPS consistently maintained. The announcement has sparked interest within the Cardano community, leading to an 8.62% increase in ADA's price. The testing campaign aligns with Cardano's objective of enhancing its ecosystem and showcases the practical applications of Hydra for scaling its blockchain.
