The Taiko Layer 2 (L2) network on Ethereum experienced a significant increase in total value locked (TVL) in November 2024, reaching a record $81 million. The network also saw five million daily transactions, indicating growing acceptance of Ethereum's L2. Taiko has now partnered with DoraHacks to conduct the largest anonymous community vote in Ethereum history, utilizing the Minimal Anti-Collusion Infrastructure (MACI) system developed by Vitalik Buterin. This initiative aims to decentralize community governance and ensure that votes remain private and are not influenced by outside parties. Taiko and DoraHacks have garnered around 924,300 members for this vote, making it the largest MACI-based vote to date. In contrast, the Open Network (TON) has plans to open a Layer 2 payment network in the first half of 2025, aiming to reduce transaction costs and increase scalability. While TON focuses on transaction efficiency, Taiko emphasizes decentralization and community governance, as demonstrated by its use of MACI in the voting process.
