IOHK, the company behind Cardano, will be conducting a Hydra test campaign in the form of a gaming tournament using Doom, a decentralized application built on the Hydra protocol. The test aims to explore the capabilities of the Hydra scaling solution and push its boundaries. The tournament will consist of stages where players will compete against bots and eventually against each other. A prize pool of 100,000 USDM has been introduced as an incentive. Earlier testing of the Hydra protocol showed impressive results, with three million transactions recorded in one hour and a global throughput of 1,663 transactions per second. The protocol also demonstrated the ability to handle over 1,000 transactions per second without failures. These results indicate the potential of Hydra to revolutionize blockchain scalability by offering faster and more reliable transaction processing.
