The Ethereum Foundation has launched its first-ever "Attackathon," offering $1.5 million in prizes to security experts and auditing companies who can identify vulnerabilities in the Ethereum protocol. The event, in collaboration with security platform Immunefi, will take place from November 25, 2024, to January 20, 2025. Participants will go through an educational phase before searching for vulnerabilities under defined rules, with rewards based on the significance of their findings. The foundation expects the findings to lead to future improvements in Ethereum's security. Co-sponsors for the event include projects such as Arbitrum, Wormhole, The Graph, GMX, and Base. The Ethereum Foundation is also hiring security engineers for its Protocol Security Research Team.
