David Schwartz, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Ripple recently set the record straight on some of the widely held misconceptions about XRP, the native token of the XRP Ledger (XRPL). Through his series of tweets, he debunked some of the myths regarding XRP and XRPL, such as the prominent belief that XRPL can process 1,500 transactions per second (TPS). Schwartz clarified that the XRPL can, however, theoretically support up to 300-500 TPS and the 1,500 TPS claim on the official Ripple website was poorly worded.

He further highlighted other salient misconceptions about XRPL, such as that it can function offline, it is currently in use by Central Banks to issue their own cryptocurrencies and that On Demand Liquidity (ODL) is used as liquidity on the RippleNet. Schwartz clarified that the XRPL certainly needs the Internet, no Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs) have been issued on the XRPL yet and RippleNet does not use ODL liquidity.

The series of tweets by Schwartz evidenced his commitment to ensuring the accuracy of information related to Ripple and XRP. He urged XRP community members to check their facts and verify their sources rather than blindly believing unverified information. Not only does this help Ripple adhere to its commitment to responsible practices when supplying information and data to the public, but also curbs any widespread misunderstandings about the technology and its use cases.
