Republicans nominate pro-crypto reps to lead key House committees

Rep. French Hill has been nominated to chair the House Financial Services Committee, while Glenn Thompson is set to continue as Agriculture Committee chair. Hill, who was the chair of the House Subcommittee on Digital Assets, Financial Technology and Inclusion, has received bipartisan support. The Agriculture Committee, despite its focus on commodities and derivatives markets, could be crucial as crypto advocates seek more regulation from the CFTC rather than the SEC. Thompson, a co-sponsor of the Digital Commodity Exchange Act, aims to grant the CFTC authority over crypto spot markets. The committee nominees need to be ratified by the House Republican Conference. In the Senate, SEC Commissioner Caroline Crenshaw's confirmation vote is delayed due to Republican senators opposing her nomination.
