How a Bitcoin ATM Operator Thinks Hackers Accessed Personal Data for 58,000 Users

Bitcoin ATM company Byte Federal has suffered a data breach that exposed the personal data of 58,000 customers, including 111 residents of Maine. The breach was discovered on 18 November, more than a month after it took place on 30 September. The attack was linked to the exploitation of a third-party service. Despite the breach, the company stated that it found no evidence of customer data being misused or accessed. Byte Federal has reset all customer accounts and is working with an independent cybersecurity team on a forensic investigation. The company operates 1,356 Bitcoin ATMs in the US.
