Polygon to Buy $5M of Servers With Computer Chips Devoted to Zero-Knowledge Cryptography

Polygon Labs, a developer of Ethereum layer-2 networks, has announced the unveiling of a new computer chip optimized for zero-knowledge cryptography processing. The chip, built by hardware maker Fabric, is designed for Polygon's interoperability solution called AggLayer. Fabric recently raised $33 million in a series A round, with Polygon Labs participating, to create custom chips for cryptography and blockchains. Polygon's ZK team has been working with Fabric to develop verifiable processing units (VPUs) for its prover libraries. The goal is to accelerate the AggLayer roadmap and enable faster adoption of zero-knowledge technology. Polygon Labs will acquire $5 million worth of VPU-based server systems to accelerate ZK-proof generation projects. The implementation of this technology is expected to bring real-time and affordable proofs, accelerating the development of AggLayer.
