Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has disagreed with the idea of adopting committees for blockchain verifiability, stating that it goes against the decentralization principles of blockchain technology. Buterin believes that if Ethereum were to accept committees and centralized intermediaries, it would no longer be Ethereum. This statement was in response to Nick White, a partner of the Celestia blockchain, who believes that verifiability is the core of blockchain technology, regardless of how it is achieved. Buterin argued that using committees to verify transactions would mean compromising decentralization. Ethereum, despite being the second-largest blockchain, is considered highly decentralized by many of its supporters.
