Victor Yu, co-founder of Carv, believes that the current digital ecosystem favors data distributors over data creators. While regulatory frameworks like GDPR and CCPA offer some protection for internet users, they do not provide users with ultimate control over their information. Yu argues that achieving stronger regulations within Web2, which favors platforms over users, may be challenging, and real data transformation will only occur in Web3. He envisions Web3 giving users unprecedented agency in managing their online identities and personal information, surpassing what regulations alone can achieve. Yu also discusses the profit organizations make from user data without explicit consent and the state of data decentralization. Carv Protocol aims to build a modular data layer for gaming and AI applications to give users ownership and control over their data. Yu believes that the internet in 2030 will be a user-owned internet where individuals retain sovereignty over their personal information and benefit from the economic ecosystems built around it.
