The Russian Ministry of Energy has stated that it will prioritize using its energy for social development initiatives instead of Bitcoin mining. Energy Minister Sergei Tsivilev explained that surplus energy from power plants could be supplied to legally registered miners operating outside the "gray" zone. While experts believe that Russia could become a major player in Bitcoin mining, the government wants to focus on supporting the country's social development and industry. Miners must be registered legally and pay taxes to be eligible for the surplus energy.
