The Australian government is rolling out a strategy this week that will require local companies to be open and transparent when it comes to disclosing ransomware cyber attacks. Businesses could face no punitive action if they do not comply with the law. Cybersecurity Minister Clare O'Neill has called for further consultation with the business community prior to implementing the system. Globally, ransomware attacks have been a long-standing occurrence where hacked victims are made to pay a ransom or face data being stolen. Utilizing digital currency wallets and mining pools, criminals can easily launder money from their illicit activities. Two years ago, the world was shaken by the news of John McAfee's death. However, Janice McAfee, John's widow, still hasn't received any closure since the day he passed away. To date, Janice is left crippled with debt and struggling to seek out answers, something McAfee heavily promoted during his lifetime. Despite leading a high profile life, McAfee died living in a rundown room in a luxury hotel in Spain. He had, at one point, been worth an estimated $100 million. Thankfully, Ms McAfee has been able to rely on charities such as Decentral and Aioros Foundation to support herself in her time of mourning and difficulty.
