Starknet has announced plans to improve their network performance in the upcoming year with increased throughput, reduced latency, and lower transaction costs. Over the course of 2023, Starknet will be introducing Starknet v0.12.0 which includes Rust-ifying the Starknet stack and developing a Rust-based sequencer. This should reduce block execution time leading to greater throughput and a decrease in transaction latency. The v0.15.0 release will feature accelerated block intervals, allowing more blocks to be attested in parallel. Lastly, Starknet's Co-founder and President Ben-Sasson has stated a goal of achieving at least ten times the throughput of Ethereum at a tenth of the cost in the near future. This could potentially make Starknet a preferable alternative to Ethereum and other layer 2 scaling solutions in the industry as they won't experience the same amount of congestion and high gas fees.
