On 8th and 9th May, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse will be speaking at the inaugural Dubai FinTech Summit. The main topics he will be addressing include the main challenges of cryptocurrency utility and regulation, discussing the course for the future of cryptocurrencies alongside CNBC journalist Dan Murphy.

Dubai is known for being a hub for innovative FinTech businesses, over five thousand executives and industry leaders from around the world gathered to discuss the evolving sector. Ripple, as a company, has built a strong presence in the city over the years. Innovation has been seen in its cryptocurrency XRP, and ripple’s blockchain-based payment solutions have been adopted by banks and financial institutions such as the National Bank of Fujairah and the Saudi British Bank to facilitate cross-border transactions.

The initiative to move Ripple's global headquarters from San Francisco to Dubai was considered, yet the business model prevailed in being based in San Francisco. The discussions and implications of various regulations, combined with the utility of cryptocurrencies, will be under the microscope at the summit. As the sector grows and innovates, the discussion will be an insightful one as to how the ever-growing fintech industry will be able to move forward whilst creating a secure and regulated environment.
