Cryptocurrency projects Velodrome and Aerodrome recently experienced a second security breach, just days after a similar attack. As of now, both websites have already been restored, however, the lack of contact from the teams and providers raises the possibility of a bigger issue, such as a potential hacker attack. Although no official reports are given of the extent of the damage, around $100.000 in funds is estimated by head sleuth and blockchain specialist ZachXBT as being stolen. Velodrome and Aerodrome are both decentralized and decentralized exchanges which operate on Ethereum Layer 2 and Optimism networks respectively. Independently, each of these exchanges is the largest on its respective network by TVL (Total Value Locked). Whilst the decentralized front end for both projects remain uncompromised, the possible further implications of a security breach should not be discounted.
