A team of blockchain security experts have discovered a vulnerability called 'Randstorm' that could affect millions of cryptocurrency wallets generated between 2011 to 2015, potentially putting around $2.1 billion in crypto assets at risk. The cybersecurity firm Unciphered warned that wallets generated on BitcoinJS and associated projects are most vulnerable, while those on blockchains such as Dogecoin, Litecoin, and Zcash could also be affected. They have urged users to transfer their funds to wallets created after 2015 to avoid this vulnerability. Although the firm did not provide further details on how the vulnerability would be exploited, they emphasized that not all impacted wallets are equally vulnerable.
