Crypto.com has been announced as the inaugural title sponsor of the Crypto.com Showdown, a high-stakes golf event scheduled for December 2024 in Las Vegas. The tournament will feature top golfers from the PGA Tour and LIV Golf. Notably, the prize purse for the event will be entirely paid in CRO cryptocurrency, marking the first use of crypto in a major golf tournament. Crypto.com CEO Kris Marzalek expressed excitement about the partnership, stating that it represents a new chapter for both sports and crypto. This partnership adds to Crypto.com's list of sports sponsorships, which includes Formula 1, UFC, and the FIFA World Cup. The collaboration between BZ Entertainment and EverWonder Studio aims to push the boundaries of golf and sports entertainment. The event is seen as a significant step in mainstreaming cryptocurrency in professional sports.
