Solana wallets buckle as 2.8M addresses angle for Grass airdrop

Grass, a decentralized AI training network, conducted a widely-distributed airdrop of its GRASS tokens, which caused Solana wallets to experience difficulties. The popular Solana wallet, Phantom, went down shortly after the airdrop began, while other Solana RPCs appeared to handle the surge in usage without major issues. The Solana network itself did not experience performance degradation. Users initially had trouble claiming the airdrop due to wallet provider issues. The GRASS token price briefly rose to $1.00 on KuCoin before dropping. GRASS tokens are used to power the Grass network developed by Wynd Labs, which rewards users for sharing their internet bandwidth and scrapes web data for AI training. Wynd Labs raised $3.5 million in seed funding.
