Crypto asset manager Bitwise has announced its first allocation into decentralized finance (DeFi) through a partnership with Maple Finance. The size of the allocation was not disclosed. Bitwise is leveraging Maple's bitcoin-backed lending product, which is available to accredited investors in the US. This move represents a significant milestone in the adoption of on-chain credit by institutional investors. Bitwise believes in the future of on-chain asset management, where products are transparent and opportunities exist that are not available in traditional finance. The partnership required extensive due diligence and background work. Bitwise manages over $12 billion in client assets.
