CandleFocus Bitfinex Hack Launderer Heather 'Razzlekhan' Morgan Sentenced to 18 Months in Prison

Heather "Razzlekhan" Morgan has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for her involvement in laundering the proceeds of the 2016 Bitfinex hack, which resulted in the theft of almost 120,000 bitcoins. Her husband, Ilya "Dutch" Lichtenstein, who led the hack, was sentenced to five years last week. The couple laundered a significant portion of the stolen bitcoins before being arrested in February 2022. Morgan pleaded guilty to money laundering conspiracy and conspiracy to defraud the United States. She claimed she was not aware of the theft until after it had happened. The judge described their actions as deliberate and involving extensive planning.
