Exploring the Intersection of Humanity & Blockchain Technology
Author: Katie TurnerVitalik Buterin opened the conversation pointing out that the core of blockchain technology is about “human coordination and interaction” with one another. Then both speakers pointed out a widening gap between technological evolution and the progress of human ethical and consciousness development, with the latter lagging behind. Sadhguru further illuminated that this gap is a result of the need to identify with a certain group and surrendering intelligence to “protecting and defending the identity” of that group.
However, Buterin argued that emerging technologies actually make it easier for people to recognise different and complicated identities while connecting with one another on common ground. According to him, such technologies offer the potential to result in “realized cooperation” and learning opportunities.
The whole talk was focused on encouraging listeners to be mindful of our own intelligence and interact with technologies in a proper manner, as humans are the “highest level of technology”. Ultimately, for blockchain to contribute to humanity, correct use of such technologies is the key.
