MicroStrategy's co-founder, Michael Saylor, has reached out to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, offering to help the company make "the next trillion dollars for MSFT shareholders." Saylor's proposal comes in response to a suggestion by the National Center for Public Policy Research (NCPPR) to add Bitcoin to Microsoft's balance sheet, citing the success of MicroStrategy's Bitcoin investment strategy. However, Microsoft's board of directors has recommended voting against the proposal, stating that they have already considered various investment opportunities, including Bitcoin. The NCPPR argues that corporations have a fiduciary duty to diversify their balance sheets with assets that appreciate more than bonds, even if they are more volatile in the short term. The NCPPR suggests a minimum allocation of 1% of Microsoft's assets to Bitcoin.
