The discount rate of Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (GBTC) has decreased to 8.06%, the lowest it has been in nearly 3 years. Trading at a discount rate of 48% just a year ago, market observers attribute the sharp decrease in the discount rate to growing optimism regarding Grayscale's proposal to transition GBTC into an Exchange Traded Fund (ETF). This proposal had also won a court case in June forcing the SEC to review the application. Recent talks between Grayscale and SEC, along with recent sales of GBTC shares from Ark Invest, seem to have contributed to the positive outlook and thus the decrease in the discount rate.
