A high-end rehabilitation centre located in Spain has recently begun to provide therapies to address the new phenomenon of crypto trading addiction.


This Switzerland-founded wellness center, known as "The Balance", has its main site located on the Spanish island of Mallorca and branches in London and Zurich.


The BBC reported that although the medical center has long offered treatments for drug, alcohol, and behavioral health issues, it has recently started offering care for addictions related to crypto trading.


It was reported on February 5th that one of the client's of the center requested help to reduce their trading in cryptocurrencies, which had been amounting to $200,000 per week.


The duration of the treatment is four weeks and includes sessions such as therapy, massages, and yoga. The cost for this can reach up to $75,000.


At Castle Craig Hospital, located in a different part of the world, they have treated more than 100 people since 2018 who have been dealing with potentially hazardous issues related to cryptocurrency trading. This Scottish-based addiction recovery center specializes in helping those who are involved in high-risk crypto trading.


Diamond Rehabilitation, located in Thailand, has been in business since 2019 and has recently included treatments for people suffering from addiction to cryptocurrencies in their services.


The organization stated that their complete, multi-step strategy for aiding people with dependency includes the utilization of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Psychodynamic Theory (PT).


There is a perceived need for rehabilitation centers to offer services to assist people suffering from addiction to cryptocurrency trading due to the extreme highs and lows experienced in the fast-paced, never-ending market.


A Family Addiction Specialist estimates that based on gambling disorder statistics, roughly 1% of cryptocurrency traders will suffer from a severe pathological addiction while around 10% will experience issues other than financial losses.


Family Addiction Specialists identify symptoms of this dependence as frequent online price-checking, especially during late hours.
