Taiwanese authorities detained two individuals associated to crypto exchange JPEX on suspicion of fraud. Chang Tung-Ying, the chief partner of JPEX's Taiwan Office and Shi Yu, a lecturer affiliated with the exchange, were taken into custody based on allegations that they had violated relevant laws. JPEX was under investigation by the Taipei District Prosecutors Office, with inquiries at nine locations, and four suspects were summoned by the office. Additionally, Brand Ambassador of JPEX, Nine Chen, testified as witness, while victims who had lost money due to the exchange had filed legal claims. Accordind to reports, since June JPEX has been promoting and soliciting investments for cryptocurrency-related products, though not being compliant with the with anti-money laundering laws imposed by the Financial Supervisory Commission in July 2021. In September, Hong Kong authorities busted JPEX's local operations, arresting eleven people and blocking JPEX's app and website. JPEX released a statement to reject the SFC's accusations of their operating model and promotional methods.
