Ripple's Chief Technology Officer, David Schwartz has seen a shift in perspective on the XRPL Clawback feature, going from initially skeptical to accepting of its potential benefits. XLS-39 Clawback was announced by the RippleX team in September, and it is a mechanism that allows issuers of digital assets to "reclaim" or "reverse" certain transactions in certain conditions. Previously, Schwartz favored minimizing ledger mechanics and handling functions off-ledger, but he now believes that the Clawback feature offers practical benefits for asset issuers wanting more control on the XRPL, as well as mitigating the ambiguity surrounding frozen digital assets. This change of opinion has been heavily discussed in the Crypto community with the overall consensus being accepting of the potential that this feature can offer.
