Crypto custodian Copper made news on Wednesday when announcing the addition of a new team of leaders in their company. Stefano Maestri was named Chief Technology Officer, while Sam Goh and Sam Brown were respectively brought on as the new Chief Financial Officer and General Counsel. Maestri has previously worked as a CTO at Clarivate and a financial services division of IHGS Markit. Goh is a Senior Vice President at digital identity firm Onfido and appointed Brown, previously Head of Product of Copper since June last year, to become the permanent General Counsel in February. In addition to this, the firm also hired five former Bank of America Merrill Lynch employees to grow their prime infrastructure offering.

On the other hand, TRM Labs, which works on risk management and compliance for crypto businesses, had to reluctantly layoff 9% of their workforce that counts about 200 people. The spokesperson for the firm confirmed the layoffs via Blockworks and specified it was done to “align with the macroeconomic environment and future business goals”. It impacted mostly the recruiting team but other roles in areas such as engineering, data science and go-to-market teams were reduced in order to sharpen their focus.

Within the same industry, other layoffs were reported as well over previous months such as those at Anchorage Digital and Magic Eden that spiked in January this year. Phil Robl was recently appointed Chief Operating Officer of Jukebox, a PR agency specialized in web3, reinforcing their new community management and social media division.
