Atomic Wallet, a cryptocurrency wallet provider based in Estonia, has requested an US court to dismiss a class-action lawsuit that alleges the company caused up to $100 million in damage after it was hacked. AtomicWallet argued that jurisdiction resides in Estonia and they have “no US ties”. The company also argued that the users who allegedly were affected had agreed to their terms of service. According to their service agreement, users aren't permitted to seek damages beyond $50 in the case of theft. Additionally, AtomicWallet denied responsibility for any negligence in security, and waived claims of fraudulent misrepresentation. The suit was launched in August after the companies platform was breached. It was reported that Ukrainian and North Korean groups were behind the attack, targeting about 5,500 users. Whether or not crypto projects should negotiate with hackers is a matter of debate in the industry, with some advocacting to pay hackers the demanded sum, as the cost could be lower than the cost of a security or data breach breach.
